“Do not be in love with the world and what it stands for. If anyone loves the world, God’s love is not in them.”
All that is in the world is:
1. The strong, selfish desires to please the flesh (lusts) and not God.
2. The strong, selfish desires of the eyes:
Materialism: the selfish desire to posess, own or consume without caring about the needs/feelings of others or pleasing God.
Covetousness: the desire to posess something/someone that is not yours.
3. The pride of wordly achievements, such as social status, intelligence, positions of power and authority, education, competetence and the pride of posessions.
God is not impressed by the things of the world, only people are. This life is passing and you will leave everything behind when you die. Therefore, the only thing that truly matters is your spirit which lives on forever.
Whoever follows God (by believing in Jesus) will go to heaven.
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”
Those who find Jesus are on the narrow, restricted gate. These people are misunderstood and rejected in this world as Jesus was also rejected by the majority because the world hates the truth. But at the end of this life it is worth it because by genuinely accepting him, you are forgiven for everything you ever did wrong and you will go to heaven. You will also have more long-term stability in this life because you will find fulfillment in spiritual pleasures rather than physical lusts which leave a hole in your heart.
Those who reject Jesus may seem to have an easier time in this life because they are able to fit in and involve themselves more easily but in reality they are destined to find emptiness in everything they do because everything is purposeless in their life. Ultimately, things are more likely to fall apart. This is because nothing in this world can fulfill a spiritual hunger which is in all of us. Nothing here will ever satisfy you and you will have to do more and more all the time to fill the empty hole in your heart. This can result in addictions and other vices.
When they die, these people have missed the whole purpose of life therefore they will have to go somewhere not so nice to suffer the punishment for their mistakes, as they rejected Jesus’ offer to forgive them for everything they did wrong by simply believing in him.
“This is how to recognise whether the Spirit of God is in somebody or not: Those who confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh are of God while those that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh do not have God’s spirit in them: Those who reject him are of the spirit of antichrist.”
Those who have God’s spirit in them have overcome those that are running with the course of this world because God is greater than the devil who runs this world.
Those with the antichrist spirit in them are of the world, therefore they speak of the things of the world which are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, and the world hears them.
Those who have God’s spirit in them speak of the things of the spirit and are only heard and understood by others who also have his spirit in them. Those who have the spirit of antichrist in them do not hear them or understand them.
By this we know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
Pop music as a whole can dumb people down and stop them from maturing. It can keep people so hung up on the physical that they are completely blinded to the spiritual – that is: to walk in the way of what life is really all about, to become a nicer person and to find the truth. It can give people the desire to live in a bubble, shutting their eyes to reality and stopping them from being thinkers. This can mean that they don’t question anything. It can become an addiction, the desire to be high all the time. It is important to remember that everything in this world is there to bring you away from God because the devil is the god of this world. He has a hold on the music industry and therefore it is used as an anti-Christ movement in disguise. He follows this main principal “Do what thou wilt” (do whatever you want and don’t fear the consequences) therefore if you are observant enough then you will see that this is the main theme running through it. He can use pop music to take you away from God and bring you closer to him.
Pop music as a whole fullfils countless lusts of the flesh – these include: arrogance, pride, selfishness, having a bad attitude, materialism, boastfulness, drunkenness, rebelliousness, revenge, going wild, crazy behaviour, having no self-control, indecency, objectifying, violence, bitterness, impatience, and many other vices.
The lust of the flesh is the selfish desire to please yourself and not God – to do something that makes the flesh feel satisfied. As you enjoy the catchy tunes of pop music, there is a strong risk of it subconsciously having an effect on you by putting ideas in your head, therefore, be awake when you listen to it.
