The Book of Your Life, The Book of Life, & The Afterlife!

book of life

Simple Truth

If you were to view your life as being a book, then you would say that from the moment you are born here your book would have been opened and everything you do in your life would from then onwards be written on the pages of that book and when it is time for you to die and leave this life then your book would have closed. The word death is a word that people really do need to understand better, the word death can mean two things, in a physical sense it means the ceasing of life and in the spiritual sense it means the absence of life, or in other words, the absence of a more spiritual life. Spiritual life can only really come from Jesus because in a spiritual sense, Jesus is the one that gives us light and life so death is the very opposite of spiritual life and so you will have what is called spiritual death, or in other words, a living death!

So a lot of people, if they don’t find God in this life will go to the next life without God and therefore, they will go to a place that is called death & Hades. It’s commonly called hades but in the book of Revelation it is also called death & hades. It’s called death and hades because it is a place where people go who didn’t find God in this life and commonly they would have rejected Jesus in this life and therefore they didn’t choose salvation and so they didn’t choose spiritual life. A lot of people have the view that death is the end of the matter that “ok, you rejected God, you rejected Jesus in this present life and so it’s off to hell you jolly well go in the next life!” This is not entirely true because clearly you have another life there in death and hades and it’s not quite the end of the matter yet. Of course there is much talk amongst “religious” people about eternal hell and the fires of hell and all that sort of thing and a lot of religious people are of the belief that if you didn’t choose to believe in God in this life then you will go straight into a fiery hell in the next life but this isn’t entirely true either because the final conclusion of the book of your life and everything that is written on the pages therein is kind of concluded at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ on earth when all of the books are opened.

So you can look at your present life as being one book if you like and should you unfortunately go to Hades then that book will again open and a new chapter would have now begun and everything you do or don’t do in Hades will again be written in that book and so the final conclusion of the whole matter will be concluded at the very end of the thousand year reign of Christ on earth at what is called the great white throne judgement of God and so all you have to do is simply read this at the very end of the bible which is at the very end of the book of Revelation, the last book in the bible and so it’s a kind of conclusion of the matter of all matters here and so we really do get to see what happens to people at the very end of their lives, not necessarily the end of this life but also the end of their lives in death & hades, should they go there.

And so it really does clear the whole matter up if we just read what it says, and it says,

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven (atmospheric, the skies etc.) fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books (of people’s lives) were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it (those that died at sea); and death and hades (original Greek word) delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.” (Revelation 20:11-13)

So clearly, we understand from these verses that everyone gets a fair trial because small and great were judged every man according to their works. Remember also here when you read these verses that it not only talks about books in reference to people’s lives but it also talks about another book which is called the book of life and so the understanding you get from this is that everyone has different forms of sentences given to them. It goes on to say in verse 14 “And death and hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” And so from this we gather that the old punishment centre called death and hades was cast into the lake of fire, or in other words, it had outlived it’s use and in this sense it was done away with and you now have what is called the lake of fire in it’s place and this lake of fire is in the same sense called the second death and it is a worse punishment centre than death and hades. And then we read in verse 15, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

So to clarify from all of what we’ve just read, some people even though they went to hades still found themselves in the book of life at the white throne judgement. The book of life really means the book of the living and in a lot of ways we are all in the book of life and the only time that people are not in the book of life is when they are blotted out of it, it’s not a simple case of being put into it but it’s more the case that you can be blotted out of it (Rev 3:5). To be blotted out of it means that you would have been given every chance to live a good life, not only in this life but also in the next life, but should you be one of those people that reject every chance that God has given you then you could very well find yourself to be one of those who is not found in the book of life, or in other words, blotted out.

So every one of us will be given thousands and thousands of chances to receive true salvation and to live a truly loving and good life through Jesus Christ and through His true gift of salvation. The true and best blessings come to those who receive Jesus and jesus-rules-with-a-rod-of-ironsalvation in this life because it also says in Revelation chapter 20 verse 6, “Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with him a thousand years.” So receiving Jesus in this life means you will be resurrected at the second coming of Jesus Christ and you will rule and reign here on this earth for a thousand years and also you won’t be one of those that stands before God at the great white throne judgement but instead you will be one of those who will “…appear before the judgement seat of Christ; that everyone (Christians) may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5:10) But remember that some of those that stand before God at the great white throne judgement will find that they still have their names written in the book of life (living) so there is still hope for them, and it will only be the most diabolically wicked people, or in other words, as it says here in chapter 21 verse 8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”  So clearly, the lake of fire is for the diabolically wicked and those that have rejected life through and through but even so, even in this verse here is says “part” in that it says, “shall have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death so how merciful God is!

So there it all is at the very end of the Bible and a kind of a conclusion to the whole matter. So at this point you could very well quote Ecclesiastes chapter 12 verses 13-14 “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.”
