St John was a man who walked with Jesus and he walked in the light as He, Jesus, is in the light and so he said, “…if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another.” John said this in one of his epistles, he also wrote one of the gospels in which he also said, “In him was life and the life was the light of men.” (John 1:4)
We all at times find ourselves on the less than sunny side of the street and every one of us can confess to walking down the high-street perhaps with no place to go or even on some lonely walk with that feeling in our heart that the sun has gone down on our life but isn’t it nice sometimes when you see a friend on the sunny side of the street and he or she is so approachable and you feel so alive again as you cross the road to be with that person and suddenly you’re all smiles and they’re all smiles and you feel the life flowing out of them and the life flowing out of you and in this you know when two or three are gathered together in His (Jesus’) name that there is He in the midst of you. So you find yourself walking in the light as He is in the light and so you have fellowship one with another.
Sometimes you might even meet people who don’t even know that they are in the light, or in other words, in the life. You feel that life flow and you know what it is, that it’s Jesus, they feel the life flow and they think that it’s coming from you and you know in your heart that Jesus said, “He that receiveth you receiveth me and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” So now all there is left to do is to pop the little question and so you quietly mention His name somewhere in the conversation, just to see how they receive that. You know that they only like you because they like being with Jesus and the feeling they are getting from you is all coming from Jesus, He’s coming to them through you and so you feel radiant with His love and light, your face feels more radiant with life and your personality feels more full now because it’s Christ in you the hope of Glory, not your glory but “Christ in you the hope of Glory.”
But how can you tell them because as soon as you mention His name they might run away but you know they love Him because they love you seeing as you’re in Him, so oh well, keep loving them with His love and keep giving them the hints until it’s time to get the cat out of the bag – the cat that you’re trying to get out of the bag is of course Jesus! If only they would receive Him! And then we could all truly walk in the light (life) as He is in the light and we could all truly have fellowship one with another!
