Simple Truth

If you are looking into the resurrection, then you could say that you are looking into the possibility of one day being restored back to full health and life and more. We all know that one way or another we are all going to die and so we all at times wonder what happens to us after we die and so some people look into the possibility of a resurrection and what exactly it all entails. There are two examples in the bible that particularly touch upon the resurrection and one is Jesus Himself, He died physically and then three days later He appeared to His disciples and clearly He was alive again. The other example of the resurrection that stands out is that of Lazarus, Lazarus you could say was a kind of a sample of the resurrection and a kind of a prototype and you could even say that he was a kind of a cat out of the bag example of the resurrection because when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead people could clearly see him walking around town and to everyone’s surprise he was very much alive again. Some saw happiness and hope in this whereas others, the Pharisees, saw alarm, the cat was now out of the bag and everyone could clearly see that Jesus was the true Messiah and Saviour, He’d raised a man from the dead and so we read that it says, talking of raising Lazarus from the dead:

“Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.” And it goes on to say, “Jesus wept. Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him! …Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, an a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.” (John 11:17,35-39)

So clearly Lazarus was dead and in that part of the world seeing as it was hot there, he would have started to stink after four days and so Jesus did the impossible in raising a stinking dead man from the grave and raising him back unto full health. It’s as if the whole event surrounding Lazarus’ death had happened for this very reason and that reason being to give us all an example of what Jesus could do and will do and so we read that Jesus had said unto Martha earlier on in connection with raising Lazarus from the dead:

“…I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” (John 11:25,26)30270-resurrection-facebook-800w-tn

And so if we look to this event and true story in the bible then we can find faith and hope here in the resurrection, Jesus has given us a foretaste of what’s to come for us all, for all those who truly believe in Jesus, it will be as St Paul said:

“Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” (1 Corinthians 15:51-53)

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17)

And so if you find yourself worrying about things like dying and death then worry no further, you can take Jesus into your heart. Jesus said, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” (John 14:19) What He meant by this was that He was going to die on our behalf and come back to life again, Jesus wasn’t the prototype or sample, he was the real thing and still is, and all we have to do is believe that He died in our place and rose again and then we can do the same, we might not rise three days later as Jesus did but we can be sure that what was good for Jesus is also good for us. Would it be fair for Jesus to die and rise again and for us to be unable to do this? No, it wouldn’t! And so Jesus said, “Because I live, ye shall live also” or in other words, what’s good for me will also be good for you! So all we have to do is take Jesus into our hearts and believe this, turn away from all of our imperfections that brought us into this whole state of dying and death. The strange fact is that sin entered our bodies in that we inherited it from Adam & Eve who brought in incorruption and dying and death by eating of the forbidden fruit and so by acknowledging our imperfect state and acknowledging that Jesus is the perfect state that we wish to be restored back into and that we cannot restore ourselves back into full health and full life, only Jesus can do this! Jesus by His good example and by Himself being raised from the dead has proved this, He also proved that He can do this by raising Lazarus from the dead so we have two good examples, both Himself and Lazarus. So simply take Jesus into your heart and you too will one day be fully restored to full health and life and,

“He shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” (Philippians 3:21)

The word subdue here means that He will one day bring things back unto His perfect control, Jesus’ ways are perfect ways and when Jesus first created Adam & Eve they were created with full health and they weren’t meant to die so one day Jesus will restore us all back to everything that we were meant to be from the very beginning and so He will subdue all things unto Himself, or in other words bring us all back into harmony with Himself and that means no more dying and death. We can ALL be part of the body of Christ and we can ALL live together with Christ as part of His body, like His resurrected body, we will never need to die ever again, this is the mighty working whereby He is able to subdue all things unto Himself – So simply take Jesus into your heart, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Thank You Jesus!
