The buzz word since the crash of 2008 has always been austerity and so austerity became a main feature of different societies, this meant that everybody accepted that they had to cut back and pay more taxes in order to pay off a debt to people they knew not of, nobody really knows who we owe the money to but still we have austerity to this day! The new buzz word or buzz phrase coming in is the word “Populist” or “populist movement” and the picture we are all getting is that the populist movement is going to start snowballing around the world, all starting from Britain and USA, next stop Europe, and so you get a picture here of small people rising up and a paradigm shift that is taking place.
Interestingly enough, in the book of Daniel there are some verses that talk about the rise and fall of different world powers. This world throughout history has always had ruling powers and these ruling powers are in the bible sometimes called “estates” so one world power and leader would stand up in his estate as being the most powerful and the most glorious and then eventually fall and then another world power and leader would stand up in that estate and become the most powerful and the most glorious and then he would fall and so on…this all happening throughout time and to this very day and so in our day and age we have a great ruling power that is called America; America you could say these days is the most glorious and the most powerful and therefore rules in this estate and one of the main features of the American society is that it is a raiser of taxes and so we have in Daniel 11: 20 a very interesting verse that could very well be talking of America and the verse says,
“Then shall stand up in his estate a raiser of taxes in the glory of the kingdom: but within few days he shall be destroyed, neither in anger, nor in battle.”
So clearly America stands up these days in the estate of a glorious kingdom but it says here that within few days he shall be destroyed neither in anger, nor in battle – this has been interpreted by some as meaning that America’s days are somewhat numbered and it won’t be the ruling power for long and will ‘be destroyed neither in anger nor in battle’ or in other words, it won’t be a military takeover or war – so America is destined to take a fall and that fall could come through an economic crash and even some kind of civil uprising! What is very interesting is that we have this populist movement that is entering into the equation, first we have austerity measures you could say, and more and more taxes and then finally you have the crash of American society, all of this you could say by design. And then in verse 21 it says,
“And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour (sovereignty) of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.”
This vile person that stands up and becomes the new ruling power in America’s place, or in other words America’s estate, will be the up and coming Antichrist and it says he shall come in peaceably and will obtain the kingdom by flatteries, or in other words he offers people peace in the midst of their chaos, he tells them what wonderful people they are and flatters them and tells them they deserve better than this no-doubt so one of the Antichrist’s features is that he will be a peacemaker and he flatters people in order to get their kingdoms. It doesn’t appear at first that he wants to take over their kingdom and so people don’t give the honour of the kingdom to him but they do go along with his talk of peace and his flatteries because he is a great leader who is putting them on the map and making them feel important, he only wants to help them. In verse 24 it goes on to say that,
“He shall enter peaceably even upon the fattest places of the province; and he shall do that which his fathers have not done, nor his fathers’ fathers; he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches.”
This verse means that he comes into people’s kingdoms peacefully by offering them peace, he tells them that his only goal is to bring peace and so people take him into their hearts as they view him as a kind of prince of peace and a saviour figure, he does that which his fathers have not done nor his fathers’ fathers, this means that he is not like other leaders because this leader wishes to take from the rich and give to the poor and so it says, “he shall scatter among them the prey, and spoil, and riches.” So here are some more interesting characteristics of the Antichrist in that he cares so much about the poor, he doesn’t wish to rob the poor with heavy taxes and give these to the rich but he instead wishes to take from the rich and give to the poor and so people find themselves more and more in agreement with this great leader and so it says in verse 23,
“And after the league (agreement) made with him he shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people.”
So this Antichrist figure under the guise of bringing people peace and taking from the rich and giving to the poor becomes stronger and stronger through appealing to the small people and the downtrodden, he encourages them to rise up against the present order and these raisers of taxes for in his mind the small people, the poor, should have a fair share of all of that wealth and so you could say that he appears as the greatest populist leader and ruler of all time and so you can’t help finding yourself thinking that the populist revolution could turn out to be very very dangerous indeed, that truly in the estate of America, or better said in it’s place, shall stand up a vile person (Antichrist) to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom, at least not at first, but “he shall come in peaceably and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.”
Donald Trump appears to be playing a major part in the populist movement and people would quite rightfully want to take from the rich to give to the poor and so who can blame them for going along with him but the snag here is that he is in tune with the spirit of the age and therefore the spirit of Antichrist (not that he is the Antichrist!) and he is taking giant steps in the direction of Israel and there are Rabbis in Israel who view Donald Trump as being the new anointed Cyrus, the new Cyrus in these Rabbi’s minds means that Donald Trump will help restore to them their kingdom. Cyrus of old helped them to get their temple and the fullness of their kingdom back, the danger here is that they appear to be viewing Donal Trump in the same light, the problem is it is NOT the same light, it is a false light and a false anointing! The Rabbi’s believe that when their temple has the go-ahead and is rebuilt so also with this initiative will come in their true messiah, the True Messiah of course came two thousand years ago and the Rabbi’s back them rejected Him and so this upcoming and apparent new messiah could only be this “vile person” that stands up as this new ruling power, he will stand up in the estate of America but not necessarily in America because his abode and his estate will be in the north of Israel (see Ezekiel 38) and therefore he will be coming out of the estate of Russia and will eventually stand up in the estate of Israel.
