There is a serious theme running through a lot of people’s lives these days, it comes into politics at the very top and even into politics at the very bottom of that top, it even comes into the middle of the top and bottom of politics; it comes into just about every religion; the same problem has a reoccurring theme and that is the problem with division! It’s not only the problem with division but it goes a lot deeper than this in that we have a serious contradiction that cannot possibly go on much longer and that contradiction and division and problem is summed up in the words that St Peter spoke in 2 Peter 2:19. He in a sense was talking about wicked people and contradictory people and people who you could say had a beam in their own eye whilst they were trying to take a mote (speck) out of someone else’s eye and he spoke of these sort of people and said, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.” So you ask yourself this question and you look at all the leadership out there and you ask: How do they all measure up with this verse in mind? And funny enough this verse seems to fit like a glove to so many people that are in positions of leadership and you see also that it comes into the lives of so many people these days. This same verse also brings into play the words that Jesus spoke to the Pharisees of His day. Jesus said to them, “…every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:” St James also said that a double minded man is unstable in all his ways!
Strangely enough on this same theme we have a newly elected leader in America and again this contradictory nature of man has the same reoccurring theme in that you have a Conservative kind of leader who is promising the downtrodden some kind of liberty, you have a divided nation that he now rules over and a kind of a concept of a divided leader who in this same sense stands in the house of Conservatives and reaches out to the poor promising them liberty so how can these things go on much longer? How are they going to somehow or other seal the pot and preserve some kind of status quo here? The pot is reaching boiling point with all of this so something has to change and so you look to the Christians to see what they are saying and you find that even there you see the same reoccurring theme, “While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.” The big problem with the Christians these days is that of those who apparently prophecy in the name of God and use this to play politics. My understanding of the word “Prophecy” is that it means that you have a message from God so if you get a message from God then you are receiving a prophecy from God. So as God’s representative then you have a very important role here in that you would want to get it right, you would surely want to say exactly what God said. Both you and I can see how serious it would be if someone claimed that you had said something that you didn’t say and what if you hadn’t said anything at all and they said that you said “this” or you said “that”? Wouldn’t you be seriously upset?
Upon listening to all of these so-called prophecies and so-called prophets that speak them I would have to say that personally and honestly I am not convinced by any of them or that God has even spoken a word to them, they simply make it all up to boost their own positions that way; their prophecies come from their own imagination; they simply tell people what they might want to hear and a lot of people these days might want to put Donald Trump into power and so they say that God told them “this” and God told them “that” whilst all along, God never said a word to them! And again, they have more in common with this verse than they do with being true prophets of God. They promise their flocks liberty while they themselves are the servants of corruption! This same prevailing theme is filtering through the whole body politic if you like of the whole political world and the whole Christian and religious world and the madness is that they are somehow or other trying to seal the pot to preserve the status quo and they cannot and the pot is beginning to explode. They that are on top wish to stay on top and they that are on the bottom and are sticking to the bottom of the pot don’t want to stay on the bottom of that pot because it’s getting too hot for them down there and so the more they try to seal the pot to preserve the status quo they cannot and the pot is beginning to explode!
