Jesus said that a good or bad prophet is known by his fruits. He said,
“A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bringeth forth good fruit…Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:18, 20). He also said in connection with false prophets, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits” Matthew 7:15,16).
So one of the surest ways of discerning (whether you have the gift of discernment or not) whether someone is a false prophet or not is to simply go by their fruits but remembering at the same time that these people are clever at disguising themselves as being like you are, they put on a false front and they might look like you and talk like you and say all the things that you like to hear. So what they do in effect is, they come into the sheepfold and appear as sheep, they say all the right things, at least they apparently do, they rise into positions of leadership by saying all the right things, they gain people’s trust and support and get everybody to hang on their every word and then they lead you into the hands of your enemy or in this same sense, they lead you into an ambush and a trap. It turns out that all their talk of truth was just a sugar coating on a poisonous pill if you like, so we really do need to watch out for these wolves as they are very crafty and they are good at making a lie seem like truth and they are also good a making the truth to appear as being a lie, so in other words, they are very good at disguising themselves to appear as sheep.
Well, one of the weirdest doctrines that a lot of these false prophets come out with is the one where they tell us that we should support the State of Israel. Upon hearing this doctrine, the first thought that comes to mind is, well, there are one hundred and ninety-six countries in this world so why should I support the State of Israel in particular? Well, apparently, if you are a Christian they tell us, then you are supposed to as an individual, and better said collectively, bless Israel and support Israel and if you don’t then you will be cursed by God. Another initial response might be: hang on a minute, I’m not a particularly politically minded person so why should I suddenly involve myself in the murky murderous world of politics?!! Politics is a world where you really really don’t know who is telling the truth anymore so why should I blindly bless and support the State of Israel, just because God apparently (which I don’t believe He does) says so? You sound like you are tricking me to take sides in someone else’s quarrel and that I’m supposed to do this just because God says so and for no other reason! A false prophet would then say, “be afraid, be very very afraid and read what God said to Abraham (who was then called Abram) in Genesis 12:3.” So what did God say to Abraham in Genesis 12:3? Oh here it is, it says, “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: And in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” The response you find yourself thinking to that is: What do you mean? That’s not talking about the State of Israel, that’s talking about “one man” Abraham. Abraham as I remember had left his country and no-doubt there were dangerous people and even nations around those days that might do him, him being one man, harm, and so here’s God saying that He would bless them that bless thee (One man, NOT nation) and curse him that curseth thee (One man, NOT nation) and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. “In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” means that Jesus would be born through Abraham’s lineage – so ah, that’s what this verse means! God wants to bless ALL nations, not just one! He wishes to look after Abraham to make sure no harm comes to him because God wishes for Jesus to eventually be born through his lineage so that ALL families of the earth will be blessed. So every family in every nation of the earth will be blessed and this is what this wonderful verse is talking about and NOT just ONE nation, Israel!
Well, these false prophets dream up all kinds of ways and even all kinds of boogeymen to get us to support Israel. They even turn God into a boogeyman, telling us that boogeyman God will curse us if we don’t support Israel. Well, these words of Abraham did eventually come true, that indeed, Jesus did come through Abraham’s lineage and that God down through the centuries looked after Abraham’s seed (Children), as long as they were doing His Will, and eventually Jesus was born through Mary who was also doing God’s Will and then Jesus Himself looks up and says to His children, “For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.” And He goes onto say, “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched” (Mark 9:41-43). So here is the same blessing or cursing still going on today but now the blessing or cursing is in relation to Christians, or better said, Christians that are doing God’s Will that in this same sense, as Abraham was doing God’s Will and God looked after him, blessing those that would help him and cursing those that would harm him, so now Jesus blesses those that help Christians and curses those that would harm Christians. Note the emphasis in these verses, that these blessings and cursing’s come because of the name of Jesus and because you belong to Christ so when a person blesses a Christian with a cup of water, he is blessing Christ. When a person harms a Christian, he is harming Christ so in this same sense, when Abraham was blessed, they were blessing Christ and if they would harm Abraham then they would be harming Christ – NOT the nation of Israel – but Christ! And Jesus as we just read even went on to say, “And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off:” I take this to mean that if, let’s say a false Prophet tells you other than you should be told and presents to you a false doctrine and a false interpretation of what God was actually saying, then you, as the body of Christ, should cut even your hand off that “…it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:”
So the final conclusion appears to be the other way around, that rather than support an antichrist nation as Israel presents itself to be, we should cut it off as well as these false prophets that would tell us to support an antichrist nation. Well, for what it’s worth and as a prime example of what you might call a false prophet, here’s Neville Johnson clearly presenting a boogyman scenario in one of his latest articles The Season of the Basilisk in which he presents a boogyman kind of demon called Basilisk. He tells us in so many words that this demon Basilisk will be out to get us and will get us if we don’t bless and support Israel and on top of this he tells us the same verse, that if we bless Israel then God will bless us and if we curse Israel then God will curse us and that we as Christians should collectively pray and support Israel and that nations have been blessed or cursed if they did or didn’t support Israel. We have no personal quarrels with the Jews in Israel as we have no personal quarrels with any other persons of any of the hundred and ninety-five other nations of this earth. Jesus made a special case out of every nation and as He says in Genesis “In thee and in thy seed shall all nations of the earth be blessed.” The best thing any of us can do in any nation is to bless Jesus through blessing Abraham and to receive Jesus as Abraham did and Jesus even said that Abraham would have rejoiced to see Jesus’ day because thousands of years went by and this prophecy was eventually fulfilled when Jesus came here for all of us.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
So it is Jesus that we are meant to bless and NOT the nation of Israel and it is Jesus who we shouldn’t curse and NOT the nation of Israel. The blessings in our life ALL come through Jesus so bless Jesus and bless Him alone even when you bless His children!
