Jesus Didn’t Want Clever Conversation!

Simple Truth

When Jesus was on earth He as we all know met many many people and no-doubt many of these many many people would come to Jesus with all kinds of clever arguments or maybe they would even invite Him to their house so that they could have clever clever conversations with Him and no-doubt there are many many issues that were brought to Jesus, either they were religious or political or even economical, but in all of this, there are two or more women who stand out as outstanding lovers of Jesus. They didn’t want all that politics and economics and religious debate, they wanted Jesus just as He was, they purely and simply wanted Jesus and Jesus alone. And there was a time when two women did have Jesus alone – Mary and Martha. Mary sat at Jesus’ feet whilst Martha wasted these precious moments she could have had with Jesus by of all things, cleaning up the house!

Maybe she was trying to impress Jesus with all this cleaning up the house or possibly she was competing and trying to show Jesus that she was better than Mary but Jesus wanted none of this, He wanted them just the way they were, He wanted the beautiful persons they no-doubt were and the woman that washed Jesus’ feet with her hair and the other woman that poured precious ointment on His head, they loved Jesus just the way He was – it was all about loving Jesus for them. It wasn’t all about politics and economics and religious debate and Jesus even told His disciple off on one occasion in defence of one of these beautiful women; the disciples were more concerned about money matters and economics (or at least one of them in particular was) and could only see the price of the precious ointment that the woman was using to anoint Jesus’ head, they couldn’t see what this woman could see but Jesus understood that they had money matters on the mind and they couldn’t see the real heart of the matter. “He said unto them, Why trouble ye the women? for she hath wrought a good work upon me…For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.” (Matthew 26:10-13)

A lot of these women no-doubt stuck with Jesus throughout His whole ministry, they stuck with Him through thick and thin and no-doubt these women were the same women who followed Jesus to His cross, they wanted Him just the way He was, they wanted the real real up-close and personal Jesus and Jesus wanted the real real up-close and personal them – He as good as said this Himself – that these women were giving Him just what He needed when He needed it. Jesus loves us all just the way we are, just the way God created us before the world seduced us and took us all away. Jesus wants us to throw off all of this falsehood and get back into the pure unity of heart with heart, spirit with spirit and heavenly minded mind with mind. We are the joy that was set before Jesus when He endured the cross, He did it all for us, all because He loves us all alone, every one of us individually as well as collectively – He loves us just the way we are and we love Him just the way He is!
